"Magnified" – Report of AMC VBS 2025

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

We praise and thank God for His faithfulness in helping us conduct the AMC  VBS 2025 successfully from 1st to 7th May.  The teaching material was obtained from LifeWay Publishing India Pvt Ltd. The theme this year was  *MAGNIFIED* ( magnifying the bigness of God in the smallest of things)

Theme verse: “Proclaim the LORD’s greatness with me; let us exalt his name together.” Psalm 34:3.

A total of 124 enthusiastic kids  5  non-Christians including) attended our VBS . Over 75 volunteers were involved in organising one of the biggest annual event of AMC . People served in various teams, namely, The Registration team, The Refreshment Team, The Transport Team, The Music Team, The Skit Team , The Technical Support Team, Devotion Leaders, Teachers, panellists and General volunteers.

Magnified Music ,Skit & Decor- Talent Galore!

AMC is gifted with an abundance of talent at all levels ! Our VBS was proof of it.

Team Magnified Music was ably led by  Mrs.Priscilla Sheal , with vocalists, musicians, and action leaders including. Jerusha PaulFlorina JaneKavya ElizabethShecaniah LeviJacob EliasDaniel Jonathan, and others. Team Magnified Music began practice sessions as early as February!  The young team consisted of our Sunday School children, our youth and a couple of young adults too. The team helped begin each day with enthusiasm and vibrance. The Songs with the actions definitely etched out the  valuable lessons in the young minds .

General sessions are incomplete without skits. Our multi-talented Magnified Skit Team , headed by Ms.Kavina Jeyakaran, churned out original scripts that were not just fun-filled but thought provoking as well. The  lively performances of “Pandi athai, T-Rex (Emmanuel Praveen ) and Javed (Rithik Samuel )“ along with “the Sangi-Mangi tribe and their Chieftain“ kept the kids engaged and expecting new twists and turns.

Team Magnified Decor went all out to make the theme alive. With giant flowers, huge butterflies, bees, lady bugs , dragonflies, glow worms  and caterpillars all over literally “magnified the smallest beings” and made everyone to pause and examine the beauty of God’s creation. Again it was a great team effort from some kids, volunteers , teachers ,Co-Director and the sexton,Mr.Paul Venkatesh ,under the guidance of Mrs.Daisy Pradeep , the VBS Director. Not to forget the handmade backdrop with a giant magnifying glass and the theme spelt out in puffed lettering in metallic hues.

Magnified Logistics

  • Registration Team did a neat job handling the initial pressure and sorting out children age-wise into classes.  Mrs.Teena David and Mrs.Ivy Jawahar ensured that there was no confusion in this department ( with the help of a couple of volunteers on Day 1)
  • Refreshments Team handled the distribution of snacks and juice everyday in a composed and harmonious way by,Mrs.Jeevalatha Chakravarthy, Mr.Stephen Chakravarthy, Mrs.Cynthia David and Mrs.Caroline Martyn.
  • VBS Transport is a humongous task and it was organised with much planning and coordination by Mr.Shaboo Thomas , who was assisted by Mr.Sabin Augustine and Mr.Johan Jaikar . Both Pick up and droppping back was done on time ensuring utmost safety .

Team Magnified Teachers

On 12th April, teachers retreat was organised. We had eminent Resource persons like, Dr.Joan Ilango & Mr.Ilango Periaselvam. Focus was on ‘The purpose of VBS ‘ and  “ Lesson Planning”. A team of 17 committed women invested their time and efforts  to sow God’s Word in the hearts and minds of the children. Many were first timers but did their jobs like professionals.

Notable among our first timers were Ms.Jennessa & Ms.Abigail Ritika, (both just 19 yrs of age!) were the beginners Co-teachers . They amazed everyone with their puppet show everyday. They taught songs and introduced each day’s theme and lesson through their puppets . The 3-6 year olds were in rapt attention and awe  throughout. The veteran teachers gave their best as always.

Magnified VBS Curriculum

Children  from Beginners to Seniors explored the following truths  :-

Day 3: Magnify God’s love: The Woman at the Well (John 4:1-42): The Big Truth: God is not OK with sin, and yet He still loves sinners like me.

Day 4: Magnify God’s forgiveness: Jesus and Nicodemus (John 3:1-21; 18–20; 1 Corinthians 15:6): The Big Truth: Jesus came to save the world, and that includes me.

Magnified Special Days !

Love Feast Day –3rd  May

Children attended the general session at church before leaving to  Green Valley Central School, Mogappair. It was a convenient and comfortable getaway for all participants of AMC Magnified VBS ! True to its name the school was full of shady trees, a respite from the summer heat ! And the playground was the kind of space our kids were waiting for . Classes went on as usual until 12:45 pm in well-kept classrooms . Lo ! It was time to share their lunch…and what a feast it was! So much joy in sharing we witnessed.

  • Beginners too were part of this little picnic but were sent home by 12:45pm after their classes and outdoor games.
  • In the afternoon Activities for Primary & Juniors ,  included some much awaited Outdoor games ,followed by “Sharing the Gospel by way of a Magic Show by Mr. Justin Raj & balloon art by Mrs. Mereebah Justin .
  • The Inters & Seniors attended a Panel discussion with Mr. Neil Vimalkumar BonifaceMrs. Henrietta Boniface, and Mr. Sathish Luke. The kids had posted questions in advance via a Padlet link .Topics included how to relate to God, dealing with sin, and understanding faith, How to prove Jesus is God to others ?, is LGBTQA… right / wrong and much more. The panelists answered each query with wisdom, patience, and encouragement. They also shared some of their personal experiences which helped shed deeper insights in their responses to the questions. Time was insufficient for the questions that kept coming. We hope to have a follow up session soon.
  • Outdoor games were organised for inters & Seniors too by energetic Mr.Shaboo Thomas.

Labour Day  – 6th May: Children were encouraged to do  chores at home from Day 1 and earn some money. They donated their earnings on 6th May. The collection is being given to a social welfare organisation.

Thanksgiving Dinner – 6th May: Attended by 60 teachers and volunteers, the dinner included a time of Worship , Sharing of testimonies and thanksgiving.

We also had a time of fellowship with games (led by Mr. Philip Sanova) . Each attendee received a scented candle made by Ms. Ritika Joanna, with the words -“You may never know the full impact of your service- but God does , and we thank you for Magnifying Him so beautifully “.

Final Day Programme – 7th May: A culmination of all that the children learned at VBS was featured at the program. The program included meaningful Action songs, reciting memory verses & Books of the Bible, General Questions and Answers to them from the Bible verses (pertaining to salvation) , special song ( Death Was Arrested by inters children ) and a Skit (original script by the Senior children).

An interactive short message based on the theme was rendered by Mrs. Daisy Pradeep. And the VBS Report (in video form) cum Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Kavya Elizabeth cheerfully.

Rev. R.J. Christopher appreciated the children, teachers and volunteers and closed the VBS 2025 with prayer and benediction.

What we hope that the kids would live out  is summed up in the words of  John Piper (American theologian & preacher) , “The whole duty of the Christian can be summed up in this: to feel, think, and act in a way that will make God look as great as He really is.”
