Be A Role Model

The Christian Education and Nurture (CEN) Department of Anna Nagar Methodist Church held its annual Sunday programme on March 23, 2025.

Themed “Be a Role Model,” the event featured a meaningful skit accompanied by choreography from the Sunday School children, along with uplifting praise and worship. A special song was also performed by the CEN Committee members under the leadership of Dr. Sujatha Luther, enhancing the spiritual richness of the occasion.

A Christian role model serves as a template for righteous living, encouraging others to follow Christ’s example (1 Corinthians 11:1). The lecture identifies key characteristics of a role model, including Christ-like humility and obedience (Philippians 2:6-8), and stresses that role modelling is a lifelong commitment.

Mr. Thangasamy outlined three essential roles for Christian role models:

•Shepherd: Guiding others with care and integrity (1 Peter 5:2-3).

•Servant: Emphasizing service over authority (Matthew 20:25-26).

•Steward: Utilizing one’s gifts to serve others faithfully (1 Peter 4:10).

He also highlighted the significance of having a clear purpose in life, strong character, and a disciplined lifestyle. The relationship with God is crucial for understanding one’s calling and mission (Galatians 1:15-16).

Ultimately, the lecture encourages individuals to reflect on Christ’s image, demonstrating virtues such as love, humility, and peace while avoiding negative influences and behaviours.

The program concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners and participants of the Annual and Monthly Quiz and Memory Verse Competitions (oral and written). The CEN Committee oversees AMC’s Quiz Competitions, Sunday School, and the Vacation Bible School.
