WSCS - Women's Society of Christian Service

WSCS Annual Report: Presented on March 8, 2026

Greetings to everyone in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

It is my privilege to present a brief report of the activities and experiences of the Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) of AMC over the past year. Our fellowship continues to be a vibrant space where women gather regularly to grow spiritually, support one another, and serve both the church and the wider community.

We meet every first Saturday of the month at church for our fellowship meetings. These gatherings are a meaningful time where we reflect on a spiritual theme through invited speakers. Along with the message, we share testimonies, pray for one another, enjoy small activities or games connected to the topic, celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, and spend time in warm fellowship before returning to our daily responsibilities. These simple but heartfelt moments have strengthened our bond as sisters in Christ.

At the beginning of this fellowship year, we continued with the previous theme on the “Gifts of the Spirit” during the April and June meetings. These reflections reminded us that God equips each believer with unique gifts, not for personal recognition but for the building up of the church and the service of others. We were encouraged to recognise our gifts and use them faithfully in God’s kingdom.

From July onwards, we moved into our new theme for the year: “The Kingdom of God.” Through our discussions and reflections, we explored what it truly means to live as citizens of God’s kingdom in our everyday lives. We were reminded that the Kingdom of God is not merely a future promise but a present reality that is revealed through righteousness, peace, joy, compassion, and obedience to God’s will. The theme encouraged us to reflect on how these kingdom values can be lived out in our homes, workplaces, church, and community.

Apart from our monthly meetings, a group of dedicated women continues to faithfully sustain the “Heal the World” daily prayer initiative, which began during the COVID pandemic. Even today, a committed group of prayer warriors gathers online every evening at 5 pm to pray for the church, the nation, and global concerns. The Zoom link is shared daily in the WSCS group, and this consistent ministry of prayer has been a quiet but powerful source of strength and encouragement. And I must say, their faithfulness is inspiring — because being consistent every day at 5 pm is not easy

During the year, we also organised a Breakfast Sale in August, raising funds for Anna Tilou Cottage’s Napalaiyam project. In the same month, our members participated in the Regional WSCS Sale at BKN, where we set up stalls and made a donation. These contributions are particularly meaningful as they support pastors’ wives who are widowed or facing financial hardship, reminding us that our fellowship extends care beyond our own church.

As always, the Harvest Festival in September saw enthusiastic participation from the women of our church, who contributed generously and joyfully to make the celebration meaningful.

One of the most memorable highlights of the year was our Mission Trip to Malkangiri in Odisha, where twelve women from our church had the opportunity to visit the RHS

mission field. The trip was deeply humbling and transformative. Visiting tribal villages and witnessing the dedicated work being carried out there opened our eyes to the immense needs as well as the incredible faith of the communities being served. The commitment of the mission workers and the simplicity and sincerity of life in these villages left a profound impression on all who went. It reminded us of the larger mission of the church and the privilege we have in being part of God’s work beyond our immediate surroundings. Truly, it is an experience that words can hardly describe, and I sincerely hope that many more from our church will have the opportunity to experience it in the future.

Our fellowship also actively participated in various district and regional activities. A few members represented our church at the District WSCS Meeting, and several women attended the District Convention at AMC, where Mrs. Tijitha took charge as District President. Our delegates also attended the Regional Convention at BKN, where Mrs. Jintha Titus was re-elected as Regional Vice President.

We were also delighted that our WSCS team won the Third Prize in the Annual AMC WSCS Quiz Competition. Our outstanding team deserves special appreciation for their dedication and preparation over three months. We congratulate Mrs. Krishnaveni Daniel, Mrs. Cynthia David, Mrs. Jenita Nancy, Dr. Monica Stephen, and Ms. Priya Stanley for their excellent effort and commitment.

The Christmas season was celebrated with great warmth and joy. Our December meeting was combined with a Christmas celebration where everyone came dressed in royal shades of blue and purple, symbolising that we are daughters of the King. We exchanged small gifts, shared fellowship, and celebrated the spirit of Christmas together. Some of our women also visited elderly members for carol singing, ensuring that they too experienced the joy of the season.

In addition, we visited Mithra Home, where we sponsored a cake for the children. Mrs. Daisy shared the Word of God, while Mrs. Tijitha brought joy through her music, making the visit a memorable and meaningful experience.

Another significant event this year was our Annual Retreat held in February at our church, which saw a wonderful participation of around 40 women. The retreat was conducted under the theme “Thy Kingdom Come / My Will Be Done.” The sessions were led by Mrs. Shalini Manohar and Mrs. Sharmini Samuel, who guided us through powerful reflections on surrendering our personal will to God’s greater purpose. Their sessions challenged us to reflect deeply on what it means to truly pray “Thy Kingdom Come” in our lives. Through interactive discussions, activities, fellowship over lunch, and moments of prayer and reflection, the retreat became a refreshing and spiritually enriching experience for everyone present.

As we come to the close of this fellowship year, we thank God for a year filled with learning, fellowship, prayer, and service. Through our focus on the Kingdom of God, we have been reminded that God’s kingdom is built not only through big events but through small acts of faith, prayer, service, and love.

Today, as we celebrate WSCS Sunday, which beautifully coincides with International Women’s Day, we are reminded of the vital role women play in the life and mission of the church.

We warmly invite more women to join our fellowship. With an annual subscription of ₹1000, there are many ways to participate — by attending our monthly meetings whenever you are free, joining our online prayer gatherings, or being part of retreats, outreach programs, and celebrations. We look forward to welcoming many more women into this wonderful circle of fellowship.

Finally, I would like to introduce our WSCS leadership team: Our President, the lady behind so much of what we do — Mrs. Daisy Pradeep; our smart and efficient Vice President, Mrs. Anitha King; our gentle encourager and Secretary, Mrs. Sarah Paulsingh; I serve as the Treasurer, Dr. Minothi Titus; our Outreach Secretary, Mrs. Tijitha, who reaches many through her musical gifts; our cheerful Prayer Secretary, Dr. Priya Ramani; and our vibrant Youth Secretary, Ms. Hari Suvarchala.

Ladies, we warmly invite you to join us. Please feel free to reach out to any one of us for more details.

I would like to conclude with this beautiful reminder from Scripture:

“Serve one another humbly in love.” – Galatians 5:13

May God continue to guide and strengthen our fellowship as we serve Him together.

Thank you.
